Our Curriculum

Your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and understanding through the seven areas of Learning and Development as outlined in the EYFS framework.

Children should mostly develop the three prime areas first.

These are:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Physical Development
  • Communication and Language.

These prime areas are those most essential for your child’s healthy development and future learning. As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in four specific areas.

These are:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Every child deserves the best possible start in their education and through parental and teacher support they can fulfil their potential.

The Reception year will lay the foundations to enable your child to become an independent and self-motivated learner throughout their whole school career.

In the Foundation Stage there are seven areas of learning:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

These areas of learning are taught through different topics during the school year.
